The Mental Health Act 2014 invests the Chief Psychiatrist of Western Australia with the responsibility to approve a mental health service by order published in the Western Australian Government Gazette, approving a mental health service at which electroconvulsive therapy can be performed.
In discharging the statutory responsibility noted above, the Chief Psychiatrist has published the Standards for the Administration of Electroconvulsive Therapy and maintains a Register of Services Approved Electroconvulsive Suites.
