Under the Mental Health Act 2014, the Chief Psychiatrist publishes guidelines to support clinicians to provide safe and high-quality mental health care.
Guidelines published by the Chief Psychiatrist are designed to provide clinicians with guidance and strategies in providing safe, high-quality mental healthcare. Clinicians are legally required to take guidelines into account when making treatment decisions.
Several of these guidelines have a corresponding set of standards governing clinical practice and should be read in conjunction with one another.
