Note: the Chief Psychiatrist’s Authorised Hospital Standards are currently under review.
The Chief Psychiatrist’s Standards for the Authorisation of Hospitals under the Mental Health Act 2014 were published in October 2019 and replaced those developed under the Mental Health Act 1996.
The revised Standards seek to influence and guide services to incorporate contemporary practice and advancements in technology in terms of providing a safe and suitable environment for patients, carers, staff and visitors accessing mental health services.
