Statutory Education and Training
In keeping with our strategic objective of influencing the delivery of safe, high quality mental health treatment and care, the OCP provides education and training to assist clinicians appropriately apply the provisions of the Mental Health Act 2014 with particular relevance to the responsibilities of the Chief Psychiatrist.
Providing opportunities for clinically meaningful and contemporary education and training is the cornerstone to person centred treatment and care. Investing in knowledge acquisition regarding best practice, relevant legislative obligations, and guidance on changes to improved practice is a focal point for the Chief Psychiatrist in ensuring his standards for clinical care are adhered to and complied with.

MSE for AMHPs
The MSE is an important component of the assessments AMHPs are required to conduct under the Mental Health Act 2014.
This 2 module program provides education and training for metro AMHPs with regard to MSE and Risk Assessment.
Module 1: MSE for AMHPs – 5½ hour program
Module 2: Risk Assessment for AMHPs – 4 hour program
(Module 2 can only be undertaken after module 1)
